Taste the future

Taste the future!

I didn't think Tasting the Future was possible, until I actually experienced it myself. I have never experienced so many elevated, artistically created, and uniquely flavored food items all at ONE time! Taste the Future showcases the culinary scene in Columbus at its absolute finest.
Columbus State was filled with 50 + restaurants, caterers, and clubs, all who were there to showcase items that represented their culinary vision for their business. Almost all of the establishments that participated, had chefs and employees that were either current or alumni students from Columbus State! [Super cool to know that we have people from CSCC all around our Columbus food scene] On top of the food looking and tasting absolutely delicious, each vendor there did such a wonderful job decorating their stations in accordance to their businesses and what they were all about. Everything looked too pretty to eat (and even touch). It was the ultimate foodie paradise.
To kind of give you a picture of how it went down, you start on one side, and eat your way through to the other (at least that's how I did it). It was kinda like a big loop, and it made the most sense (to me) to just eat your way around. However, pacing was something that I totally dropped the ball on at this event. I wish I could say I ate all 50+ dishes, but unfortuantly, I stuffed myself to the maximum capacity and by body was like nope, you're done, you can look but das it! It's crazy because I'm almost always on a seafood diet, I see food and eat it (like all of it). Hey speaking of seafood, scallops.. SO MANY SCALLOPS. And I'm not mad about that at all whatsoever. Each one, was different in its own unique way.  Take a look!
But anyways, back to the picture I was trying to paint for you. Live music and a photo station for entertainment, with tables scattered all around for you to sit and enjoy at your leisure. You walk around, sample all the food and beverages you can possibly fit into your stomach until you just can't anymore. During all of that, you mingle and socialize with fellow attendees, chefs, businesses, and whoever else is there!
As I look back and reflect on how amazing this event was,  just thinking about all of the different businesses that were there, working so hard to constantly create and make generously sized samples, while completely invested in serving the people amazing food the whole time. It really makes me appreciate the amazing food scene we have here in Columbus.
This tasty fundraiser supported past, present, and future Columbus State students and the Columbus State Foundation. There was over 1,500 attendees, and over $275,00 was raised. Knowing that this event's proceeds go towards student scholarships and student success at Columbus State made tasting 50+ samples worth the food coma.
(You didn't think I forgot about the desserts did you?!)
PS- I even had a chance to peep the new Culinary building, Mitchell Hall. And wow, it's absolutely beautiful. The culinary students now are the future in the Columbus food scene, and I'm so happy that they get to learn, work, and develop their own culinary vision and expertise in this new building. Excited for the future, and the tastes to come!
